I watched coverage of the Paris Marathon on Sunday, marvelling at the beautiful setting for what was a great race. On Monday I awoke to the devastating news that Notre Dame Cathedral was in flames.
I’ve got a confession to make: I’ve not yet made it to Paris.
I’ve been to different parts of Europe but have always had other things planned and haven’t made the time to get to Paris.
That certainly doesn’t mean I haven’t wanted to – rather that it hasn’t been as high on my list of priorities.
As I watched the race I reminded myself that I need to revisit my list of priorities and place visiting Paris higher up the list.
Unfortunately, I’ve left it too late to see the beauty of Notre Dame.
While I mourn the loss of such an important piece of the world’s history, part of me is also (selfishly) mourning my own loss.
It’s a vivid reminder of the value of prioritising the things that are important to us, developing a plan to achieve them, and then working through that list.
What goals have you put off for too long?
I hope you have a good Easter break!
