In my IT and business career, when there’s a problem, you don’t just try to fix it and keep your fingers crossed it will not happen again. You look at the root cause and take action there. I feel that this is not the approach we have towards cancer. We talk about ‘curing’ cancer while I believe we should be talking about not getting cancer in the first place.
Congratulations to everyone who took part in the @outruncancer Corporate Treadmill Marathon today!! An absolutely huge effort by runners at 8 different locations across Sydney ... together thousands of km’s were run and over $135k raised for charity!!! Great to be part of such an amazing and inspiring event! . . @outruncancer @injinjipp @topoathletic @injinji #injinjipp #ippgear #injinji #topoathletic #movebetternaturally #outruncancer #corporatetreadmillmarathon #treadmillmarathon #treadmill #treadmillrunning #run #running #corporate #corporateevents #charity #awareness
Luca has quite a few achievements that he’s proud of and some that he calls borderline stupid - we like to call them eclectic!
One of those proud accomplishments was experiencing his first fundraising event—a life-changer, he says—when he ran 20 marathons in 29 days across Italy.
He also ran with the Tarahumaras in the Mexican Canyons, saying, “The legends narrated in the book Born to Run are actually closer to the reality than many might think!”
Luca has also broken the Guinness World Record for the furthest distance run on a treadmill in 24 hours! For him, accomplishing this challenge was a personal test for his mental toughness.
“I put myself out there and bet on my mental strength.”
When looking to the future, Luca is thinking of home.
“I’m going to take a crack at qualifying for the Aussie team for 24 hours on the track. I’d love to have the opportunity to represent my country.”
Luca’s also looking to fund a running expedition to Italy—this entails running from the top of Mont Blanc all the way down to the tip of Sicily.
This is an opportunity for Luca to showcase to his fellow Aussie runners and friends the best that Italy has to offer. He’d be setting up a virtual tour of this 2,000 km expedition over 40 days.
Before beginning his relationship with Knightswood House, Luca admits to feeling as though he were a bit removed from his personal finances.
He used to believe that you were either receiving financial advice because you had more money than you knew what to do with (which he conceded was certainly not his case); or, because you were in such financial straits that you required external help to enforce restrictions (thankfully, not his case!).
The most difficult things, for Luca, in beginning the process with Knightswood House were trust and vulnerability.
“I personally find it hard to talk about money and financial situations with strangers, especially when they ‘do not get’ my passions and goals in life.”
Now, after establishing his working relationship with Knightswood House, Luca can confidently attest to the fact that a sound financial plan, a timeline, and some accountability are the factors with which he and his family will achieve a sustainable work/life balance.

Luca now knows how to turn his ideas into a profitable business within a reasonable timeframe and what to do in order to secure the future he and his wife have envisioned for their kids.
While personal finance is not the easiest thing in the world to open up about with outsiders, it can be an even trickier subject within a household. Thanks to the support of his Knightswood House advisor, Luca and his wife Lidia are now having meaningful conversations around their finances and their future:
“[Our open dialogue] allowed us to talk openly and frankly about topics such as our kids’ future, housing, lifestyle, holidays, running plans and dreams, insurance, wills, etc.”
Compared to his initial trepidations, Luca feels more in control and as though a weight has been lifted from his shoulders.
“Now, I know what I need to do and the money I need to earn and save to live the life and do the things I want to do as well as support the people and the causes I am passionate about.”
Working with Luca has been as equally rewarding for us, so in getting to know him, we were charmed to find out that one of his greatest inspirations is Arnold Schwarzenegger! Luca’s inspired by what Arnold was able to achieve in his lifetime not only as an actor but as an entrepreneur as well.
Luca Turrini himself is an inspiration. He is now a Live the Dream Ambassador for Knightswood House and continues to inspire others with his mission and endurance runs.
He hopes for himself that he can be remembered for pursuing his own dreams with total passion and commitment.
And, we can’t wait to watch and support him to achieve them!
