Over the course of 2020 we spoke several times about the Sustainable Investment Portfolio we have developed, and our plans for transitioning to this.
Just this week we’ve seen 3 major global developments that support this approach, and highlight, why we believe moving in this direction, is the right thing for investors as well as the world.
Firstly, we saw the new US President Joe Biden formally recommit his country to the Paris Climate Agreement and then sign a number of Executive Orders to elevate climate change to a national security priority.
Secondly, Larry Fink, the head of BlackRock (the world’s largest investment firm) released his annual letter to CEO’s where highlighted the acceleration of the trend to Sustainable Investments and called on them to share their plans of how their business model will be compatible to a Net Zero Emissions economy.
Finally, Australia’s own Dr Andrew Forrest, the founder and major shareholder of Fortescue Metals Group, delivered his first Boyer Lecture where he discussed the issue of tackling climate change and how his company is moving to tackle this by developing a significant renewable energy capability which will support the manufacturing of Green Steel in Australia.
We look forward to working with you over the course of the year, and if you have any questions in relation to this please contact me.
