I’ve spent the past week pondering a friend’s comment to me that capitalism as we know it is dead. This was not something that I’d expect to come from the mouth of someone who has spent his career working in the centre of corporate finance, but he’s highly educated and a deep thinker, so I was forced to think about this and start searching for arguments on both sides. I’m certainly not there yet, but in the following video I talk about my progress to date.
One of the writers I mentioned is Viktor Shvets, a senior Macquarie Group strategist. Macquarie is certainly an organisation regarded as one of the bastions of capitalism, so his thoughts on the changes to the global economy are fascinating.
