To the surprise of no one, the lockdown in Sydney has been extended this week. Thankfully though the Olympics have kicked off and provided a welcome distraction.
I love the stories that come out of the Olympics, particularly the background stories of the competitors who have been unknown to virtually all of us.
One of the great things about sport is that the leadup is dominated by the discussion about who is expected to win, but once the event starts expectations count for nothing and it’s all about the performance on the day.
One question I’ve had recently is that given half of the Australian population has been (or still is) in lockdown, and this is clearly a negative for the economy, why is the sharemarket continuing to power on? You can find out more about this here.
